Pinwheels Like to Party!

Pinwheels are fun, cute, and quirky - oh and they are everywhere! For showers, parties and weddings - the pinwheel is making an appearance as part of the decor, as favours for guests, they are used in place of a bouquet for bridesmaids and also as props for photo booths!

We like this trend as it's a little different and of course we love the fact that you can get creative and have fun making them yourself! Making your own to your own colour palette and theme means that you'll have some truly unique elements for your event.

Pinwheels personally remind us of summer time in childhood watching the pinwheels whizz in the breeze! Cute! Here are some beautiful examples of pinwheels partying...

Talking Twenties

We were recently commissioned by Alexandra of Bijou Bride to design a custom wedding suite and invitation for an upcoming shoot she had. The shoot would be styled around The Great Gatsby and when gathering research and inspirations we found so much of 1920's influence popping up in fashion, film and of course weddings!

There has been a lot of speculation that the rustic and vintage trends may lend themselves more towards old Hollywood glamour and elegance associated with the 1920's. We always say it's about you and your own style preferences but it's great to see another way of bringing something vintage to your day and if you're looking for something more sophisticated than handmade this could be for you.

We wanted to share a small collection of our favourite findings and a few examples of how you could maybe bring a touch of twenties to your wedding day...

The Ralph Lauren Spring 2012 Collection is heavily influenced by the 20's & 30's, taking us
back to old Hollywood glamour, and has plenty of pretty pastel tones in there too.

Centre of Attention - Part Two

We were really inspired by the more creative ideas for centrepieces and it has been predicted that for 2012 this will be a key trend in place of the tradtional centrepiece. In part one we focussed on floral arrangements and how they can be displayed differently in a more creative & unique way. In part two we are looking at unique centrepieces altogether!

We love adding personal touches and personality and your wedding centrepieces are a great way to do this! Whether you have a theme for your wedding you would like to work in or maybe something meaningful to you both as a couple you can create your own unique centrepieces. We design bespoke wedding suites with this in mind and with us you can add something personal, fun or quirky to your table numbers & menu designs to use with beautiful creative centrepieces as this trend suggests.

Take a look at some of these lovely examples of unique centrepieces for inspiration...

It is really popular to include books within the centrepiece - stacked up with a little arrangement on birdcage on top or as a table number itself! Books that have meaning to you both or romantic novels are a nice touch .

This lovely set includes centrepieces' of handmade items which are truly unique to their wedding. Not only do they look cute within their wedding scheme but they can be used as photo props in the evening too! .

This couple had a bit of a science theme going on which relates to their jobs & also how they met. They simply & tastefully used conical flasks & flowers within their centrepieces & their table numbers related to the periodic table! Image found on Pinterest

Centre of Attention

It's a new year and there is much anticipation and discussion about wedding trends for 2012. Of course we always feel it's down to your own personal choice & style and we like to see little bits of the unique but it's always great to draw on inspiration from beautiful wedding blogs & photographers and put your own spin on it!

A great little post on the lovely new blog b.loved by Louise Beukes discussed trend predictions for 2012 stating that personal touches itself will be a trend. What also sparked our interest was Louise's mention of the end of traditional table centres' - this is something we would really like to see more of. This may be a different way of displaying flowers or a more unique centrepiece altogether!

For part one of our look into this subject we have gathered some inspiration on different ways in which you can display flowers. From lots of little mismatched vases containing odd flowers to vintage jars and bottles proudly adorning tables amongst a few floral arrangements. It doesn't matter whether your tables are long or round you can work this trend and in your own way...
